Accounting Intern
Overview
We need a detail-oriented person with a desire to learn about small business accounting. Someone who can read a balance sheet like it’s a children’s book. Someone who spends more time on the calculator app than Snapchat. Someone that can replicate Einstein’s Theory of Special Relativity in Microsoft Excel. If you want to grow your accounting and general business knowledge outside the classroom, this is a perfect fit for you.
Responsibilities
- Support the Controller with accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations.
- Assist in month-end closing and financial reporting.
- Prepare annual forecasting and budgeting for the agency.
- Utilize your accounting background to work with various departments.
- Help with conducting bi-weekly payroll and updating the database of employee files.
- Work with other interns to manage incoming revenue generated by spaces available for rent in our office building—3 meeting rooms, auditorium, and podcast studio.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a 4-year university or college pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting, finance, business, or HR.
- Understanding of basic accounting and financial principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
- Desire to learn about the multiple aspects of operating a business.
